About us

Independent Guides to the Mountain by the Sea

We are a small team of Qingdao-based travelers and writers who spend more weekends on Laoshan than off it — and we built this site to share everything we wish we had known before our first climb.

Who we are

LaoshanScenicSpot.com is an independent visitor guide — not the official website of the scenic area, and not a faceless tour reseller. We are editors, photographers and longtime Qingdao residents who fell for this mountain the way most visitors do: halfway up a stone staircase, with the Yellow Sea glittering two kilometres below and the feeling that a lifetime would not be enough to walk every valley.

That first visit taught us how confusing Laoshan can be for an international traveler: three separate ticket lines, a summit area sold apart from the coast, cableways that pause with the wind, and a metro system that gets you within a short shuttle of the trailheads. So we did what guidebook writers do — we went back, again and again, took notes, checked every timetable, and turned the confusion into the clear, honest guides you find on this site.

What makes our guides different

First-hand, always

Every route, price table and timetable on this site comes from a visit by our own team — Jufeng at dawn, Beijiushui after rain, the coast road in each season.

Re-checked monthly

Hours, fares and cableway rules change with the seasons. We re-verify the essentials every month and mark each guide with the date of the last check.

Honest by design

We publish the drawbacks next to the highlights — the crowds, the stairs, the weather risks — because your day is too short to waste on sugar-coating.

Reader-funded

When you book a ticket through our Trip.com partner links we earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you — and that is what keeps the guides free.

What you will find on this site

The site is built around one question: “what does a traveler need to know to have a perfect day (or two) on Laoshan?” Everything else follows from it.

  • Tickets & passes, decoded — the Yangkou, Taiqing and Jufeng ticket lines, cableway fares and the 3-day all-access pass compared in plain English.
  • Route-by-route guides — Jufeng summit, Taiqing Palace, Beijiushui valley, Yangkou and the coastal road, each with timing, difficulty and photo stops.
  • Itineraries for 1–2 days — hour-by-hour plans that respect the 15:30 ticket deadline and the 4:30 PM last admission.
  • Getting there from Qingdao — metro lines, buses, taxis and day tours, including the airport and railway-station angles.
  • Culture & food — 2,100 years of Taoism, Pu Songling’s legends, Laoshan green tea and the fishing villages that serve it.
  • Real traveler reviews — verified Trip.com reviews quoted honestly, both the raves and the practical warnings.

How each guide is made

  • Step 1 — Walk it. An editor visits the route, notes timings, ticket checks, food stops and the viewpoints that are actually worth the detour.
  • Step 2 — Verify it. Prices and hours are cross-checked against the scenic area’s official announcements, the ticket hotline (+86-532-96616) and live partner listings on Trip.com.
  • Step 3 — Compare it. We read hundreds of recent traveler reviews and fold recurring warnings — wind-closed cableways, holiday crowds — into the tips.
  • Step 4 — Update it. Guides carry an “Updated” stamp when rules change; the essentials are re-checked monthly and fully rewritten each season.

Affiliate disclosure: This site is free and always will be. Booking links to Trip.com are affiliate links — if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never influences what we recommend; we have happily told readers to skip paid add-ons when they were not worth it.
